This Just In! Twice as Many Considering Cosmetic Procedures

Diwan, ASDS - Image This past month, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) released new statistics showing the growing interest in cosmetic procedures. In the past three years alone, the number of men and women choosing cosmetic medical procedures has nearly doubled. Reflected by the ever-mounting interest in her Westlake practice, Dr. Diwan can personally attest to these staggering statistics.

Why the Sudden Interest?

As of late, cosmetic treatments and technologies have become increasingly advanced, effective, and accessible. As the awareness grows, so does the number of individuals considering them. “One of the key reasons why is because patients trust their dermatologists and the advanced techniques and cutting-edge technologies that will improve their appearance,” reiterates Naomi Lawrence, the current president of the ASDS. With a desire to look and feel young, amongst the reasons men and women choose cosmetic surgery are “I want to feel more confident” and “I want to appear more attractive.” At 83 percent, individuals are most concerned with excess pockets of weight. Other common concerns include uneven skin texture and tone, fine lines and wrinkles, and excess sagging facial skin.

Why Should You Be Interested?

Like the ASDS statistics suggest, minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are amazingly effective at treating a number of common trouble areas. One of the more popular categories include laser and radiofrequency treatments that non-surgically tighten skin and smooth wrinkles. At The Laser & Skin Surgery Center, we love Apollo Radiofrequency! A non-invasive treatment, Apollo Radiofrequency successfully addresses facial wrinkles and tightens sagging skin on the face, neck, arms, abdomen and thighs. In addition, it is able to provide circumferential reduction, by reducing fat, and can reduce the appearance of pesky cellulite. Other popular procedures and treatments include injectables like wrinkle-relaxing Botox® and dermal fillers, like Juvéderm®; skin-smoothing microdermabrasion, laser hair removal as well as laser tattoo removal—each with a top satisfaction rating of at least 95 percent. Dr. Diwan is a proud member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.
