Skin Care & Aesthetics

Non-Surgical Procedures

Establishing an effective skin care regimen is critical in order to maintain healthy and youthful-looking skin. However, the best skin care products won’t always be found in the beauty aisle of your local department stores—despite what they may claim in their commercials. The best skin care plans begin with the best skin care professionals. Dr. Diwan can help build your own personalized skin care regimen with medical grade products and systems that are chosen to meet your own specific needs.

Can Antioxidants Cause Skin Age Reversal?

Antioxidants are among anti-aging products that help reduce the negative effects of sun exposure, other environmental exposure, and various factors that contribute to aging skin. Free radicals eventually cause skin damage from sun exposure. Thus, removing free radicals with antioxidants helps to prevent the harmful effects of sun-exposure. Applying antioxidant creams or serums twice daily to the face help combat free radicals that are formed in the skin as a result of a variety of external and internal insults to the skin. Antioxidants help to improve the health of all different types of skin. Vitamin C and other antioxidant-containing moisturizers are available at our office.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a treatment that removes layers of skin by application of an acid to the skin surface. The technique of application is an important factor in determining the effectiveness of the peel. After healing, new, regenerated skin gives the face a more youthful and balanced appearance. Common problems such as dullness, roughness of the skin, blocked pores, acne, uneven pigmentation and wrinkles on the skin are improved. Different kinds of acids, in different concentrations and formulas are available for correcting different problems. [Read More]

Who Is a Candidate for Chemical Peels?

Skin imperfections such as fine lines, acne and post-acne discoloration, hyperpigmentation, and sun spots can be improved with chemical peels. If you are someone who is suffering from an active infection, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis, or open wounds, getting a chemical peel treatment may not be recommended for you.

How Often Will I Need Chemical Peels?

Because the skin is continuously replacing itself, we recommend patients undergo superficial chemical peels every month for maintenance. In the span of a month, the skin on your face can go through many changes. Because of this, the skin needs to be treated with a monthly chemical peel to maintain rejuvenation and control acne.

Microneedling

Many people live with wrinkles, scarring, and other skin damage and are looking for a solution to these imperfections that is both effective and won’t break the bank. With all the procedures available today, it’s hard to know what will give you the results you desire. Dr. Diwan recommends microneedling (also referred to as microchanneling) treatments to many of her northeast Ohio patients seeking to improve their skin appearance because it directly stimulates collagen production, with a quick recovery and minimal risk of side-effects, even for darker complexions. Who Is a Candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling is a great skin treatment for anyone who is looking to achieve rejuvenation of the skin and improve imperfections. Ideal candidates for microneedling are in overall good health, do not have active acne, are non-smokers, have a good skin care regimen, follow sun protection guideliens and have realistic results in mind. When undergoing microneedling, it’s important to be able to commit to multiple sessions to achieve the best result.

The contraindications for microneedling are those who have active acne, infections, or an underlying health condition that makes it difficult for the skin to heal.

How Long Will It Take to Recover from Microneedling?

Following a microneedling session, patients usually experience mild redness and swelling of the face for the first 24 to 48 hours. After this time, the swelling and redness fade, and most patients return to their normal routines within 24 hours of their treatment. Patients notice improvement in the skin over a few treatments and for a few months after treatments. A little peeling and temporary breakouts may also occur after this treatment, but are merely a sign that your skin is recovering.

PIXEL8-RF Microneedling

PiXel8RF Microneedling is a treatment that combines the benefits of radiofrequency energy and microneedling. Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is a skin treatment which utilizes fine needles that create tiny injuries when they enter the skin. This takes advantage of the skin’s natural ability to repair itself by replacing damaged skin with new collagen. Radiofrequency energy applied to the surface of the skin increases the skin temperature which also creates new collagen. With RF microneedling, radiofrequency energy is introduced within the skin from the entire length of the needle, while it is in the skin, providing a more effective result in the skin.

AQUAGOLD Microneedling

AQUAGOLD microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that is performed in our office. It employs fine gold-plated needles to create small punctures in the skin, to nourish it with a customized combination of stem cell growth factors, Juvederm and /or Botox, and stimulate collagen production. The AQUAGOLD® fine touch™ device features 20 24K gold needles that are each thinner than a human hair. Dr. Diwan is able to complete the microneedling treatment in just 20 minutes.
