Amini faceliftis similar to a traditional facelift in that it addresses sagging skin on the lower face and upper neck. However, unlike a full facelift procedure, the mini facelift is a more limited surgical procedure that is best suited for those with less advanced sagging of the lower third of the face, to tighten and remove sagging skin (jowls). It’s a corrective procedure with smaller adjustments at the hairline to restore a youthful and natural appearance to the face.
If you’re interested in less aggressive cosmetic surgery to enhance your jawline, keep reading to learn more about mini facelifts.
Targeting Concerns on the Lower Face
The results of a mini facelift are noticed mostly at the jaw and upper neck. Ideal patients for this procedure are those looking to correct early to moderate skin sagging at the jawline and upper neck.
The procedure utilizes a shorter incision and far less surgery. However, it is still a surgical procedure with the related post-surgical recovery and follow-up to ensure everything heals properly.
As with other types of surgery, there can be side effects. Dr Diwan and her skilled team at the Laser and Skin Surgery Center are aware of the risks associated with this procedure and take the proper precautions for the safety of our patients.
Credentials Matter and Influence Results
The expertise of the surgeon makes a big difference in the results. Generally, mini facelifts are performed by a dermatological surgeon. Dr Diwan is board certified and she is a fellowship trained dermatolgic surgeon. She has the requisite training and years of experience to perform the procedure skillfully and deliver great results. The procedure is performed in the office with local anesthesia. Patients typically need a week of downtime away from work and daily routines but improvement continues, usually, for a few weeks.

Whether you are the bride, mother-of-the-bride, or a member of the bridal party, you want to look your best on the big day. At The Laser & Skin Surgery Center, Dr. Renuka Diwan can help you look and feel your best for the wedding with a variety of treatment options depending on your timeline. Like other aspects of the wedding, it’s best to plan ahead. Here’s a guide to give you an idea of how much time it may take for various treatments.
4 Days
If you are looking for a quick way to exfoliate dry, rough skin, remove peach fuzz for soft, smooth glowing skin or improve uneven skin tone, dermaplaning is a great choice. This non-invasive treatment rejuvenates your skin with no downtime. For a flawless red carpet-ready finish that celebrities have before big events, Dr. Diwan offers Aquagold microneedling with microinfusion. Make time for this at least 3 days (preferably 7 days) before your big day.
2-4 Weeks
For those who are on a short timeline and want to reduce the appearance of oiliness, pores, wrinkles or scars, we offer AQUAGOLD® microneedling treatments and dermal fillers like Juvéderm®.
6-8 Weeks
If you have a couple of months to prepare, there are a few more options. Non-invasive facial treatments that provide best results with a series of 6 treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels. BOTOX®for wrinkles and excessive perspiration is ideal in this time frame, allowing time for a second visit for any touch up.
For longer eyelashes, we recommend Latisse®, which helps stimulate hair growth. Finally, if you want to address loose skin, Dr. Diwan can perform a mini facelift. A minimum of 8 weeks is recommended for planning a mini facelift.
3-6 Months
If you have a few months before the wedding day visible veins or sunspots can be significantly reduced with laser treatment, IPL treatment, or sclerotherapy. Excess skin on your upper or lower eyelids, can be removed with a blepharoplasty. Laser resurfacing or a series of microneedling treatments
can provide significant improvement of wrinkles and skin texture and allow time for complete recovery.
6-8 Months
If you’ve started planning even sooner, you’ll have enough time for body sculpting options. Dr. Diwan recommends either liposuction or CoolSculpting®for stubborn fat. Kybella® injections improve a double chin and fullness of jowls. If you’re going to bare your legs, we highly recommend Apollo Radiofrequency TriPolar treatment and other treatments for cellulite.
1-2 Years
Patients who plan far in advance can address most, if not all of their needs. You have enough time for laser hair removal, and tattoo removal.

A common concern for many of our patients, dark circles under the eyes are a frequent topic of discussion during consultations with Dr. Diwan. A well-defined chin and jawline are key elements of facial harmony. When your chin is too small or recessed, it can make your other features appear less balance. At her Westlake, Ohio practice near Cleveland,Dr. Renuka Diwanoffersnon-surgicalchin augmentation to help patients achieve natural-looking facial balance through precise, expertly placed filler injections.
As a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained dermatologic surgeon, Dr. Diwan brings both an artistic eye and deep medical expertise to every facial procedure she performs. Her thoughtful approach to chin enhancement allows patients to achieve noticeable improvement with minimal downtime.
What Causes a Recessed or Underdeveloped Chin?
Chin shape and projection are largely determined by genetics. Some people are born with a smaller or recessed chin, while others may experience gradual bone loss in the lower face due to aging. As the bony framework recedes over time, the chin can appear less prominent, causing the facial profile to lose definition and making the nose or neck appear out of proportion.
A weak chin can also accentuate the appearance of jowls, marionette lines, or a “double chin,” even in people who are otherwise fit and healthy. For these individuals, chin augmentation can significantly enhance the structure and aesthetics of the lower face.
Non-Surgical Chin Enhancement with Filler
Dr. Diwan performs chin augmentation using JUVÉDERM®, a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler. By carefully placing filler in the chin area, she can increase both forward projection and vertical height. This technique helps restore harmony between the chin, jawline, nose, and other facial features, all without surgery.
Chin filler treatment is a quick, in-office procedure that typically takes less than 30 minutes. The results are visible immediately and can last 18 to 24 months, depending on the specific filler used and your unique anatomy.
Benefits of Chin Augmentation
Improved chin projection and facial profile
Enhanced jawline definition
More balanced proportions between the chin, lips, and nose
Reduction in the appearance of a double chin
Natural-looking, subtle results
Non-surgical, with minimal downtime

The eyes play a prominent role in facial expression and aesthetics. It is the eyes that often show the effects of time, age, and gravity before other parts of the face. The skin of the eyelids—being the thinnest of the body—may get wrinkled earlier. Aside from just wrinkling, the eyelid skin also becomes lax with the excess skin forming a fold on the upper eyelids or under the eyes. “Bags” form above and under the eyes and bulges appear, altering the natural, youthful contours of your eyes. Descent of the forehead can occur simultaneously causing crowding of the eyes. Dr. Diwan can perform a customized eyelid surgery procedure to restore your youthful appearance and improve the signs of aging.
How is eyelid surgery performed?
The excess skin, wrinkles, bags, or lowered brows make the eyes and face appear tired and older. Rejuvenation of the eyes can be achieved through cosmetic surgery treatments that address these problems, and help restore a more vibrant appearance. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is a surgical procedure that is designed to treat excess skin and bags around the eyes.
Wrinkling of the skin can be treated using a combination of laser treatments and Botox®. Dr. Diwan may also recommend a brow lift, which restores the eyebrows to their original position by lifting the skin of the forehead and brow area.
Depending on the patient’s needs, one or a combination of the above procedures may be needed to achieve optimal results. Dr. Diwan will recommend the best treatment plan for you based on your condition and desired outcome. Blepharoplasty and brow lift operations can be safely performed in-office.

“For approximately 4-5 years I was self conscious of my excess upper eyelid skin that sat on my upper lids. The only reason I waited as long as I did was having kids in college. The cost was very reasonable and even more importantly Dr Diwan blew me away with her meticulous professional and compassionate nature. I could not be more pleased with the results and only wished I would have done even it sooner. Can’t say enough positive things about her and her staff. Thank you very much – very grateful!”
“This is definitely the best thing I have ever done for myself! I highly recommend Dr. Diwan!”
After your eyelid surgery procedure, Dr. Diwan will provide you with detailed care instructions to help you through the healing process. The typical recovery period for upper eyelid surgery is about one week; and two to four weeks for lower eyelid surgery.
When will I notice the final results of my eyelid surgery?
Continued improvement occurs over a few weeks before a final result is reached. This may vary based on the specific methods used for your eyelid surgery with Dr. Diwan.
For a thorough evaluation of the problems that need correction, as well as the selection and discussion of appropriate treatments and planning, a consultation with Dr. Diwan is necessary.
The tiny holes pierced in the earlobe for earrings can become elongated over time. Factors such as the weight of heavy earrings worn daily; the pulling of dangling earrings when they are caught on sweaters, hair brushes, or fingers; and the loss of elasticity of aging earlobe skin all work together to slowly pull on the small holes, turning them into long slits or tears in your earlobes. If you feel self-conscious or embarrassed by the look of your ears, and ill-fitting earrings, Dr. Diwan can reconstruct the earlobes to a normal appearance.
How is earlobe repair performed?
Depending on the severity of your unique situation, the slits in your ears can extend all the way down the earlobe, causing it to split and no longer be able to hold an earring. The split earlobe is a deformity that can be corrected in the office with a local anesthetic (numbing injection). After numbing the area, the edges of the split or long earlobe hole are removed and the fresh edges are sewn together. If desired, the repaired earlobe is re-pierced in six weeks. It is important to wear smaller, lighter earrings to prevent the same problem from recurring.
How long is earlobe repair recovery?
After reconstruction of the earlobe, there is some swelling and, possibly, bruising of the earlobes. Some minor pain or discomfort may occur immediately after surgery, but you should be able to resume your normal routine almost immediately. However, we do recommend avoiding higher levels of physical activity and avoid unnecessary contact with your ears for the first few days. Dr. Diwan will provide you with more detailed care instructions following your own personal earlobe repair procedure. Sutures are removed a week after the repair.
When will I notice the final results of my earlobe repair surgery?
You will notice an immediate improvement in the look of your earlobes once your surgery is complete. There may be some bruising and swelling for the first week as the skin heals. Most patients will enjoy the final results of their earlobe surgery within a few weeks. The earlobes can be re-pierced 6 weeks later.
“I was searching for a doctor to repair my torn earlobe and I am so pleased to have found Dr. Diwan. Dr. Diwan and her staff are very nice and professional. Plus, my procedure was painless and looks great! I would recommend everyone to this center.”
