A common concern for many of our patients, dark circles under the eyes are a frequent topic of discussion during consultations with Dr. Diwan. Luckily for you, at The Laser & Skin Surgery Center, we have a number of ways we can refresh your eyes and eliminate the “tired” look, rejuvenating your whole face!

Under eye circles can be caused by a number of factors, including  volume loss, increased pigmentation, and thinning skin.

Problem: Volume Loss

Try: Facial Fillers

Facial fillers are able to fill in depressed grooves that look like dark circles under the eyes, and cannot be hidden with make up. By correcting genetically insufficient fullness or fullness lost over time, injectable fillers soften or eliminate under eye hollows and the appearance of under eye circles. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the best choice, having a proven track record. The degree of fullness created under the eyes can be adjusted as well.

Great for dark circles under the eye, Restylane, consists of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body.

Problem: Increased Pigmentation

Try: Microdermabrasion

Repeated sun exposure increases pigmentation in the skin under the eyes and intensifies the appearance of dark circles. Microdermabrasion exfoliates the skin’s outermost layer, lifting away the pigment contained in this layer. Microdermabrasion also enhances the penetration and efficacy of lightening eye creams and serums for deeper pigmentation.

Problem: Wrinkled Skin

Try: Laser Skin Resurfacing

At less than one millimeter, the skin around the eye is the thinnest of anywhere on the body. As the skin thins—and that it does—the thickness of the skin drops by seven percent every ten years.  As the skin thins the reddish color of the underlying muscle becomes more apparent as “dark” circles. Utilizing fractional carbon dioxide laser technology, Dr. Diwan is able to gently ablate the skin’s layers, tightening and lightening the skin, improving wrinkles and pigmentation. Applying an eye cream with concentrated growth factors further enhances the collagen content of the skin.

CO2RE fractional laser treatment and Apollo Tripollar Radiofrequency treatment , tighten the skin and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin—helping the skin to appear tighter and less wrinkled.
