At the Laser and Skin Surgery Center, we know that many men and women are uncomfortable with the appearance of their chin. A chin that is proportionally smaller than the rest of the face can create an overall imbalance with the other facial features and make the face look larger than it actually is.
There is a quick and easy solution to this problem. Chin augmentation can help correct a receding or small chin and bring more balance and overall aesthetics back to the face. During your consultation, Dr. Diwan will discuss options for chin augmentation, go over expected results and develop a plan that meets your expectations. The procedure itself takes less than 30 minutes. And since only local anesthesia is used, the recovery time is much short than many other cosmetic procedures (about 3-4 days).
Before the procedure, Dr. Diwan will skillfully craft the implant out of a hard silicone material that perfectly matches your existing jawline, while filling the chin area to the desired shape and fullness. During the procedure, Dr. Diwan will make a small incision inside your mouth or under your chin, depending on the desired outcome that was discussed during the consultation. Dr. Diwan then prepares a small pocket under the skin and inserts the implant before closing the incision and placing dressings as necessary.
While you may have some tightness and soreness in the jawline, this rarely exceeds needing more than ice and keeping your head elevated. The tightness should subside within a week and you will see Dr. Divan about 2 weeks after your procedure. That is when you should see the eventual result of the augmentation and can discuss the success or whether additional injections are needed. Because of the locations and size of the incisions, any scarring should fade over time and will be out of sight.
