Sculptra is an FDA-approved synthetic filler for augmentation of facial volume. A youthful face is fuller than the face of a more mature person. Aging causes hollowing of the cheeks, temples and other parts of the face. Loss of facial volume results in a gaunt appearance associated with aging. Thin, athletic people also have loss of fat and contour of the cheeks. Restoration of facial volume has a rejuvenating effect restoring the face to a fuller, more youthful appearance. Sculptra requires preparation of the product 2 days prior to injection and treatment must be scheduled and confirmed at least 2 days ahead.
